Matt Johnson

Matt Johnson

Senior Pastor

Wife Naomi; children Ethan, Sienna, Liam & Rachel.

Matt was brought up in a great Christian home, but went AWOL for several years with drugs, alcohol and poor decisions.

In God’s providence this helps Matt to fully appreciate the glorious grace of Jesus to the least, the last and the lost.

Matt loves Jesus, his wife, kids, outdoors, 4WD, his dog Banjo, building stuff and reading Puritan theology.

Spurgeon; Ryle; Johns gospel.

Naomi Johnson

Naomi Johnson

Women’s Ministry

Naomi has four children, one dog, two cats (sort of), one rabbit and seven chickens.

The children are asking for a goat. Just as well Naomi loves animals (and children).

Naomi grew up singing Evie Tornquist songs and believing that Jesus loved her.

She began to understand what that meant when she went to a youth group that her neighbour invited her to.

Naomi likes to sing, read and do the laundry (not!).

Church Council

1Tim.3:8 In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

At South Sydney Anglican Church, the Bible is taught in a practical, truth revealing and loving ways, answering the mysteries of life.

Jesus’ defeat of death and rising from the grave is unlike anything else in the history of humanity. Jesus is alive. He is with us and He will come back soon.

In my quest for the meaning of life I have found the God of Abraham and His Word in the Bible to be worthy of my life.

Back in 2006 I  came to my sensors and realized there is a creator ‘God’. This was the beginning of my Christian journey.

I began attending a Charismatic church in late 2009

Early in 2013 I was invited to South Sydney Anglican Church Redfern, and since have formed close fellowships with the current Senior Pastor and with other members of the congregation.

My experience at this Church has been taken to a whole new level in my spiritual journey  with the Lord.

Have been a member of PC since 2018.

I currently run my own Architectural Drafting company. Marital status single.

Peter Boyce, heard Billy Graham preach in 1959 when 8, prayed that night that He would make me His and that He would be mine.

Men's Shed

The ‘Men’s Shed” at SSAC occupies a formerly under-utilised space under the Church Hall and is now a workshop where three men spend up to six happy days a week undertaking practical projects from building a river trimaran to restoring an old car.

Two of those who regularly attend are retirees who are not church goers yet but enjoy being part of the SSAC weekday community.

The Men’s Shed is another ministry connecting us to our local community so that we can overflow with faith, hope and love in Jesus.
